Y'all know how today started. Things were sucky, then they calmed down a bit.

I got this email when I got home tonight:

Hi

I took Fred to the hospital this a.m. via ambulance as he could not walk by himself well enough to get to the car.
He had a temp. over 100 and was a bit shaky - at the ER it was higher...
His blood sugar was 300+ this a.m. at home. It was over 500 at the ER.
And he has pheumonia - again. And. found he has an infection ( again? still? )
When he was tested at the Dr. (last week?) no infection was found - assumed gone - after treating it for about a month.

He is doing better. Sleeping mostly. But better.
I guess he will be there for a "few" days so will probably miss the meeting.

I am SO unamused. This means he's back to all his bad dietary habits, no doubt. I am tired of being the adult in the family.

I guess I have to call my aunt tomorrow...

Half an hour late to work today. Stupid rainy weather/water-soluble DC driving skills. Fortunately, I was running ahead of the Independent Truckers' Protest that was headed from Harrisburg to Washington this morning. May take side roads home, if it's heading back when I am. Also, will be working a bit late to make up time.

Watched more of The Wire, season 2, with Garko last night.

He: "McNulty gets shitfaced, smashes up his car, and ends up getting laid by a decent looking diner waitress? What the fuck?"

Me: "He's Irish."

He: "I want to be Irish!"

Me: "You're Scots, and you seem to be doing pretty well for yourself." [doesn't add "My car is in bad enough shape, thankyouverymuch]

He: [mumbles something about sheep]

I have a buttload of work to do today. I completed a little bit. Now I am on to the next bit, which I only barely remember how to do. Thank goodness I actually have a competent temp now!
